Heel Tough Blog: 3 Players to Miss Start of the Season

Tar Heel Blog

Head coach Roy Williams made it known last week that the team will be without Sterling Manley, Jeremiah Francis, and Anthony Harris for the immediate future. At his Media Day press conference, Ol' Roy revealed that Manley had surgery over the off season. Manley has battled injuries ever since he arrived on campus 3 years ago. There was a chance that Carolina could've been without both Jeremiah Francis and Anthony Harris to begin the season, as both were recovering from injuries when they committed. The absence of Manley is frustrating sure, but the absence of Francis and Harris might hurt more. Carolina lost Coby White who left after a sensational freshman campaign. Cole Anthony the top point guard in the past recruiting class committed to play in his college ball in Chapel Hill over the summer, but there's a lack of depth at the most important position on the floor. Expect to see a good bit of Leaky Black handling the ball, as well as KJ Smith, the son of former Tar Heel All-American Kenny Smith, who earned a scholarship over the summer.
