Saturday afternoon, one of the Tar Heels three remaining targets in the 2024 class will reveal his decision.

2024 4✮ WR Alex Taylor, the No. 9 player in the state in the class according to 247Sports Composite player rankings, will announce his commitment later on today. The announcement will take place at 4:00 PM EST via live stream from Grimsley High School in Greensboro, NC.

Taylor officially visited all five of the finalists that he revealed back at the end of June, bookending it with the two teams this decision feels like it is down to. Clemson hosted him the first weekend of June along with a host of other big time receiving targets. Meanwhile, the Tar Heels brought him in with the rest of their big name targets the final weekend of the month.

The Tigers were in the driver’s seat for nearly this entire recruitment, but things changed quickly following his official visit in that first week. Once the article from Phil Kornblut of STRecruiting was released that quoted Braylon Staley as saying the team was telling recruits they were full at wide receiver, this recruitment turned in favor of the Tar Heels. There were some rumors that the Tiger staff had told that to even, but Taylor and they were saving one last spot in the class for him, but that doesn’t look to be the case. NC State appeared to have a shot in this recruitment at one time after the Tigers were presumably no longer an option, but the Tar Heels look to have done what they’ve had to do to dispose of them and land this important commitment.

Even with the confidence that the Tar Heels have done enough to be the pick today, the recruiting experts are still rather silent on this one. Only two predictions have been cast across the three major recruiting websites, including none from Rivals at this point. The two predictions that have been revealed are in favor of the Tar Heels and come with solid confidence levels. The On3 Sports Recruiting Prediction Machine does strongly favor the Tar Heels right now, giving them a 74.6% chance to land his commitment.

Prediction: North Carolina
