Heel Tough Blog: Anthony Expected to Miss 4-6 Weeks

Nell Redmond - USA Today Sports

The University of North Carolina announced that freshman point guard Cole Anthony will miss roughly 4-6 weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a partially torn meniscus. It was announced shortly before the Wofford game on Sunday, that Anthony would miss the game with a knee injury. Roy Williams said he learned about the injury on Saturday morning, and that he along with the medical staff would devise a plan that best benefits the player. Anthony is the team leading scorer averaging over 19 points per game, and his absence will be sorely missed for a team that's struggling to score the basketball. K.J. Smith started in place of Anthony against Wofford, and Carolina will be leaning on him along with Anthony Harris and Jeremiah Francis to contribute moving forward.
