Monday is the final day of four straight with commitments from June visitors for the Tar Heels as the most important target in the class announces his decision.
2024 4✮ in-state safety Malcolm Ziglar will reveal his commitment later today at 1:00 PM at his high school. Ziglar announced his top eight when he revealed his decision date back on June 21st, but this race is really down to the three schools he officially visited. South Carolina was the first school that he officially visited back on the weekend of June 9th and his followed that up a week later with a trip to Notre Dame. The Tar Heels got the final crack the last weekend of the month.
This is a race that the Tar Heels have always appeared to have a slight lead in and that is where things seem to stand heading into his announcement. The Gamecocks are attempting to make a last second push, though, that the Tar Heels have to find a way to hold off.
The recruiting experts are rather quiet on this decision, but the two predictions that have been cast favor the Tar Heels. Hale McGranahan and Tony Morrell, who both cover South Carolina for 247Sports, have Ziglar choosing the Tar Heels over Gamecocks as of the middle of last week. The On3 Sports Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Tar Heels the slight edge as well, giving the team a 30.4% chance to land him today.
