The Tar Heels entered Wednesday’s national signing festivities with all 19 of their commits expected to sign their letter of intent. That allowed the staff to focus on the commitment of their final remaining target in the class, 3✮ RB Jordan Louie, who announced his decision this morning.

Shortly after 10:00 AM EST earlier this morning, Louie committed to the Tar Heels over his other two finalists, Vanderbilt and West Virginia. His commitment to Carolina comes after his official visit to Chapel Hill back on the weekend of December 9th, which ended up being the final one that he took when he canceled the one he had scheduled to Kentucky. He becomes the cherry on top of another really solid class for Mack Brown and his staff.

Louie, the No. 50 running back in the 2023 class according to 247Sports, will head to Chapel Hill off of an outstanding senior season, his lone at Meadowcreek High School in Norcross, GA. He earned first team all-region after rushing for 1,558 yards and seven touchdowns on 144 carries and 640 yards and four touchdowns on 38 catches. He also handled kick return duties for the team, averaging 27.6 yards per return. Prior to that, he spent his first three seasons at Paul W. Bryant High School in Cottondale, AL.

There is a lot to like about Louie when you turn on his film. He has plenty of speed, as witnessed by his film and his 4.47 40-yard dash time. While he has the speed to pull away from guys in the open field, he also runs with a nice edge that allows him to run through defenders at a pretty solid rate. He is extremely decisive as a runner, an element that most high school running backs struggle with, and gets downhill more often than not. His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield is one of the best in the class, something that is important for Tar Heel backs to be able to do with how they have used them since Mack Brown’s return.

With Louie’s commitment, the Tar Heels’ 2023 class currently sits at 26th overall according to the 247Sports Composite team rankings. The class remains 4th in the ACC rankings with the addition. The Tar Heels 2023 early signing class is now officially set, as all 20 commitments have officially signed their letters of intent.
