After a quiet week of portal entries following the Bill Belichick hire, the Tar Heels have lost another offensive lineman to the portal.

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, Tar Heel offensive tackle Jakiah Leftwich is entering his name into the transfer portal after one season. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.

In his lone season in Chapel Hill, Leftwich played in nine games as a rotational piece of the offensive line, playing his most snaps in the James Madison game. In just 91 total snaps, Leftwich received a 60.9 run block grade, 58.5 pass block grade and 61.6 overall grade while allowing two sacks and five total pressures.

Leftwich’s departure should come as no shock after the limited snaps he played and the emergence of true freshman Luke Masterson, who took over the bulk of those rotational snaps across the line late in the season. This shouldn’t really affect the team’s strategy in the portal or on the recruiting trail, especially with them already having multiple targets in consideration to help solidify the depth across the unit.
