The Tar Heels were in the top three that was released by Williams on Tuesday, along with Ohio State and in-state Virginia Tech. The good news for Tar Heel fans is that even though it looks like Williams will not be committing to Carolina, Virginia Tech doesn’t appear that they will be the ones landing his services either. Currently, Ohio State holds all six of the crystal ball predictions for Williams on 247Sports and all sixteen of the FutureCast predictions that have been posted on the Rivals website.
With Williams appearing he’ll be a Buckeye, this leaves the Tar Heels with just one major target in the class at the defensive tackle position. 2021 4✮ DT Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins appears to be the final hope, but as of right now it appears that Georgia and South Carolina have a step up on the Tar Heels. While things can change quickly, especially with the extremely impressionable Ingram-Dawkins, the Tar Heel staff is probably beginning to look at what will be another loaded class, particularly in-state at defensive tackle in the 2022 class.
