Heel Tough Blog: Who's Next After Randolph?

The Tar Heels 2023 class is starting to come together over the past few weeks and on Tuesday, 3✮ TE Julien Randolph became the latest commit . With the commitment, the Tar Heels now have five commitments in the class and it doesn’t feel like this momentum will be stopping anytime over the next few weeks. With two more official visit weekends on the horizon, the next commitment may not be too far off. Here is a look at three targets that might be the next to add their name to the class.

4EDGE Jaybron Harvey- Southern Durham (Durham, NC)

Saturday will be the final scheduled official visit for Harvey, as he travels to Louisville. After that, it should be much longer before he makes a decision having already officially visited Oklahoma, South Carolina and of course the Tar Heels. Right now, it seems clear that the Tar Heels are the favorites for him and barring him being blown away by what he sees this weekend, there is a legitimate chance he could be on commitment watch anytime after that official visit concludes.

4EDGE Joshua Mickens- Lawrence Central (Indianapolis, IN)

This was a guy that we had at the top of the list the last time that we released one of these articles and it still feels like he is on the precipice of popping for the Tar Heels. He did take an official visit to Chapel Hill over the weekend, but it doesn’t feel like this had any significant effect judging off of the lack of reaction from the major recruiting sites. As of right now, there are no other official visits on the docket for him, meaning it is more of a matter of when not if he will commit.

4DL Daevin Hobbs- Jay M. Robinson (Concord, NC)

Hobbs is the guy that the Tar Heels might head into that huge final weekend of June in the best standing with. There is no denying the fact that they are the favorite as of right now and it doesn’t feel like it will much for them to seal the deal once they get on campus. He will take an official visit to Auburn this weekend, which could have some effect, but it might be too little too late for the other teams that are in pursuit.
