The Tar Heels 2024 class might not be the most prestigious that Mack Brown and his staff has brought in during his second go around, but there are still some prestigious prospects that will be signing as soon as the early signing period later this month. One of those prestigious members of this class is 4✮ WR Jordan Shipp, who found out earlier this week that he will be heading to San Antonio in early January for the All-American Bowl.
Shipp, the No. 40 wide receiver in the 2024 class according to 247Sports Composite player rankings, was presented his All-American jersey in a ceremony on Friday following a huge senior season at Providence Day School in Charlotte, NC. He put up career highs in receptions (66), receiving yards (1195) and receiving touchdowns (15) and helped lead the Chargers to a third straight NCISAA Division I state title. Shipp finished his career late last month with 174 receptions for 2949 yards and 37 touchdowns in 36 games.
Shipp is one of two Tar Heels commits that will be playing in the game on January 6th. Walk-on long snapper Grant Mills announced last week that he will be participating as one of the nation’s top players at his position. Two other members of this class will be playing in separate showcase games starting with 3✮ WR Javarius Green, who will play in the U.S. Army Bowl in Frisco, TX next Saturday. Meanwhile, 4✮ CB Zion Ferguson will play in the Under Armour All-American Game on January 3rd.
