Last Wednesday, the 2024 recruiting cycle came to a close with national signing day, shifting the focus to the 2025 class. Many prospects are already starting to narrow down their lists and a few are even setting their official visits. After cracking the top six for 3✮ EDGE Taeshawn Alston and being removed from the race for 4✮ IOL Justin Hasenhuetl earlier in the week, the team received the news on Thursday that one of their top targets in the class has set his official trip for this summer.
3✮ CB Onis Konanbanny told On3 Sports earlier today that he will be officially visiting Chapel Hill June 7th-9th. This will be his fourth trip to campus, the most that he has taken to one school.
As of right now, it’s hard not to consider the Tar Heels the favorite to land Konanbanny’s commitment. They are the first team that he has set an official visit with so far, something that doesn’t feel like a coincidence. Tennessee is probably the biggest threat right now, while South Carolina and NC State are worth monitoring here. On3 Sports Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Tar Heels as a pretty decent favorite, giving them a 38.9% to land him.
This is only the beginning of what will likely be a crazy month for the 2025 class.
