The Tar Heels are off to a strong start on the 2026 recruiting trail with 15 commits, but the next step is to add some more blue chip prospects to this class. The team took a step closer to landing one of those prospects at the wide receiver spot on Thursday when they found out they had landed an official visit with one of their top targets at the position.

As he revealed via social media, the Tar Heels are one of eight schools that will be receiving an official visit from him within the next month. The month will start with trips to Arkansas (May 30th) and Tennessee (June 2nd) before he heads to Chapel Hill the weekend of June 6th. Following that, he will make stops at Utah (June 10th), Kansas State (June 13th), Texas Tech (June 15th), Oklahoma State (June 18th) and Baylor (June 20th).

Campbell, the No. 138 overall prospect and No. 20 wide receiver in the 2025 class according to 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, hails from Frenship High School in Wolfforth, TX. This past season, as a junior, he finished with 81 receptions for 1,497 yards and 18 touchdowns and 38 carries for 314 yards and six touchdowns on the way to first team All-District honors on both the football field and the basketball court. The year prior, as a sophomore, he also led the team in receiving, catching 84 passes for 1,411 yards and 17 touchdowns on the way to earning second team All-District honors.

When it comes to where his recruitment stands, it feels like this is as wide open a race as it gets right now in the 2026 class. That means that things will weigh heavily on his official visits to determine where he lands. If the Tar Heels can impress him and prove that he is their top target, the might just be able to reel in this huge prize out of the state of Texas.
