Heel Tough Blog: 2026 Official Visit Primer- June 20th

The Tar Heels are set to close out their 2026 summer official visit schedule over the weekend, as they welcome another prestigious group of recruits to campus. Here is a look at the uncommitted prospects who are going to be in Chapel Hill this weekend and where their recruitments sit heading in.

4WR Travis Johnson- Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, VA)

The Tar Heels were a late addition to Johnson’s official visit schedule, meaning the team will already come in facing a bit of a hole. Michigan has also taken a pretty substantial lead in the race for his services, so the Tar Heels need a mind-blowing visit to have any chance of landing him when it is all said and done. Even then, it might not be enough.

4WR Carnell Warren- Bluffton (Bluffton, SC)

With this wide receiver target, it feels like the Tar Heels are in a much more advantageous position. Warren, who decommitted from Virginia Tech last Thursday, will take his only official visit of the month to Chapel Hill over the weekend as the Tar Heels look to do enough to keep him from looking anywhere else. It feels like as long as this visit isn’t a complete disaster, the team will be in great position to make this addition to the class in the near future.

3S Darien Lewis- Amarillo (Amarillo, TX)

Lewis is a guy who has flown under the radar that the team has been recruiting and the team looks to be in an advantageous spot with him. So far, the only other visit he has taken has been to UNLV, a team that the Tar Heels should be able to beat out rather easily if they want to. This is a prospect that comes into this weekend on commitment watch, especially with the team yet to land a safety in this class.

UR Dionte Neal- Reidsville (Reidsville, NC)

Neal is a longtime target for the team that the new staff has also taken a liking to. This official visit will be important for the Tar Heels to show that they are serious contenders once again after not being much of a factor in the race for him during the coaching transition. Boston College is the other school that has hosted him for an official visit, but this really comes down to whether or not Neal is willing to commit to a school that has not offered him a basketball scholarship. If he is, the Tar Heels have a great chance to walk away with his commitment before it is all said and done.

UR Zamaurious Robertson- Dillon (Dillon, SC)

Robertson is a recent offer that holds the Tar Heels in high regard with them being his lone P4 offer. This is a clear case of whether or not he will be a take with the team because they shouldn’t have to show him that much when he is on campus to outshine his G6 offers.
