Heel Tough Blog: 2027 3✮ QB Commits to UNC

The Tar Heels have been searching hard for their quarterback commit in the 2027 class and on Monday they found their guy.

As he announced via social media earlier this evening, 2027 3✮ QB Noah Spinks has committed to UNC following an official visit to Chapel Hill this past weekend. He commits to the Tar Heels over Utah, the school that he officially visited last weekend.

Spinks, the No. 1434 overall prospect and No. 96 quarterback in the 2027 class according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, hails from Summer Creek High School from Houston, TX. This past season as a junior, he threw 3,690 yards and posted a 43-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He also ran for 48 carries for 34 yards and one touchdown for a Summer Creek team that advanced to the 6A Class II Regional Final.

When you throw on the film of Spinks, there is a lot more to like than his ranking would suggest. The arm strength might not be the best in this class, but he has plenty of it and more importantly has really good deep ball accuracy. The best aspect of his game might be his pocket awareness and escapability which allows him to keep plays alive. He looks good throwing the ball off platform and the accuracy doesn’t dip in those situations. He shows nice promise at all three levels, but the majority of the highlights for him come in the deep passing game. His footwork isn’t the most structured, but it doesn’t seem to lead to a lot of mistakes. This seems like a very nice upside addition to the quarterback room.

With the commitment, the Tar Heels now have seven commits in the class, including their quarterback for this cycle. The class jumps to No. 66 in the overall rankings and No. 17 in the ACC rankings.
