Heel Tough Blog: 2027 3✮ WR Decommits from UNC

The Tar Heels are building some nice momentum on the field, but the team did lose one of its commits in the 2027 recruiting class.
As first reported by Inside Carolina, 2027 3✮ WR Anthony Williams is no longer committed to UNC. Williams, the No. 942 overall prospect and No. 116 wide receiver in the class according to 247Sports Composite Rankings, had been committed to the Tar Heels since June 14th following his official visit to Chapel Hill on June 5th.
Williams has missed the majority of his senior season with a hamstring injury, but had a strong junior season that put him firmly on recruiting radars. Williams hauled in 61 passes for 1,061 yards and 12 touchdowns in 15 games for an Oceanside Collegiate Academy team that would finish the season 13-2 and win the SCHSL AAA state title game in 2025.
With his decommitment, the Tar Heels are down to 16 commits in the 2027 class, two of which are at the wide receiver spot in the form of 4✮ Amare Patterson and 3✮ Chad Willis. It’s unclear as to whether or not the Tar Heel will be turning up the heat on any receivers in this class to add a third commitment, but that room will be in good shape regardless after signing six at the position in 2026.
