Heel Tough Blog: Anthony Named to Cousy Award Watch List

Jim Hawkins- Inside Carolina

Phil Ford started the great tradition of great point guard play in Chapel Hill, back in the 1970's running the famed 4 Corners Offense. Even after Ford finished his playing days, Dean Smith brought in great floor leaders in guys like Jimmy Black and Kenny Smith. When Roy Williams returned home in 2003, he inherited a talented young point guard in Raymond Felton, and the expectation was that excellent play at that position would return. That expectation has been fulfilled as three Tar Heel point guards have won the prestigious Bob Cousy under Roy Williams, (Raymond Felton, Ty Lawson & Kendall Marshall) two of which guided the program to national titles. Today uber talented freshman Cole Anthony, was named to the Cousy Award watch list. Anthony the son of former All-American, and NBA veteran Greg Anthony, takes over the point guard position after Coby White departed for the NBA last season.
