Heel Tough Blog: D’Marco Dunn Picks The Heels

D’Marco Dunn has joined the Carolina family, he is a Tar Heel. Dunn joins Dontrez Styles as the second commit for the Tar Heel class of 2021.

Dunn is a 6-foot-4, 180 pound, four star shooting guard from Fayetteville, North Carolina. As a junior at Westover, Dunn led his team to a 30-0 mark and averaged 20.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Dunn shot 54% from the field, including 45% from three. Dunn is known as a pure shooter who possesses good size, length, and athleticism. When talking about his game, Dunn compares himself to Damian Lillard of the Portland Trailblazers. ESPN recruiting expert Paul Biancardi compares Dunn’s game to that of former Kentucky standout, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Either way, Chapel Hill is excited to have his talent.

Dunn chose the Tar Heels over Clemson, Vanderbilt, Arizona, Louisville, Texas, and Georgia.

Carolina still has six outstanding offers for the 2021 class; Chet Holmgren, Hunter Sallis, Caleb Houstan, Jabari Smith, Patrick Baldwin Jr, and Trey Kaufman. We will have to see how it plays out, but my personal opinion is the Tar Heels are strong contenders with Jabari Smith, Caleb Houstan, Hunter Sallis and Trey Kaufman. A 2021 class of Styles, Dunn, and a combination of Smith, Houstan, Sallis, and Kaufman would be a darn good follow up to the class that just arrived in Chapel Hill. The talent would be of abundance.
