For the second time in less than two weeks, Roy Williams and his staff have landed on of the more prized recruits in the 2020 class. Caleb Love a 5 star PG, from Missouri, picked the Tar Heels over the hometown Tigers. This isn’t the first time Roy Williams has landed a top recruit from the state of Missouri, back in 2004, Williams successfully recruited big man Tyler Hansbrough to Chapel Hill. Carolina has already locked in two 5 star big men, but the commitment of Love is important moving forward. Even though the Heels brought in 3 point guards in this past recruiting cycle, there will be a void in the future as Cole Anthony figures to go pro after the season. Love is best known for as a physical guard, that invites contact, and can finish at the rim. A big part of his commitment, was the up tempo style Carolina is known for. His shot needs work, but with Hubert Davis on the coaching staff it will be addressed. Also with Caleb Love deciding to come play for the Tar Heels, it puts them in position to potentially land 2 other 5 stars in Cade Cunningham and Ziaire Williams. With Love, Walker Kessler and Day’Ron Sharpe, Carolina has three top 25 recruits for the first time since 2006.
