Heel Tough Blog: Injury Update After Miami

Jim Dedmon- USA Today Sports

Mack Brown had his weekly meeting with the media on Monday following the Tar Heels 41-31 win over the Miami Hurricanes. Prior to his availability, the program released one official injury update before Brown would update one player's status during the press conference.

Defensive tackle Travis Shaw is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, leaving his status for this week’s game with Virginia up in the air. As first reported by WCHL/Chapelboro’s Michael Koh, Shaw was injured during pregame warmups the other night and left the field holding his right arm. If Shaw can’t go, it will be more of what we saw the team will likely stick with the rotations that we saw the other night with Myles Murphy, Kevin Hester Jr., Tomari Fox and Jahvaree Ritzie all getting significant snaps.

Brown provided an update on Kobe Paysour’s status after he was ruled to be out indefinitely prior to kickoff on Saturday night. The Tar Heel head coach says that the sophomore receiver could be back “by the latter part of the season.” Paysour had surgery on what Brown said was a broken toe last week after suffering it in last Tuesday’s practice.
