Layth Ghannam isn’t the only Tar Heel target in this class that will announce his commitment on Saturday.
2023 3✮ CB Kaleb Cost said on Friday via social media that he would be making his commitment at 6:30 PM EST today. His decision will come down to the five schools that he named as his finalist back on April 30th, which features the Tar Heels along with Central Florida, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State and Pittsburgh.
The decision will come down just one week after his official visit to Chapel Hill, which is what seems to have some perceiving that the Tar Heels are the team to beat here. That official visit happening during a baseball regional that the Tar Heel baseball team hosted may have played a big factor, as well, for the dual-sport athlete from Tyrone, GA. The Tar Heels do have a dual offer on the table for him to play for both Mack Brown and Scott Forbes.
There aren’t many people forecasting his commitment today, but the ones that are give the Tar Heels the edge heading in. Rivals is the only site that has predictions for today and all three of those predictions, which were cast on Thursday are in favor of Mack Brown and company. The other other sites not having a single prediction is a little odd, but this still feels like one that Tar Heel fans should be confident in.
This is far from the most confident I’ve been about a projection, but I think there are reasons for Tar Heel fans to think this is going to be the team’s fifth commitment.
