After a few quiet days last week, the Tar Heels are back to adding guys through the portal. After landing more help for the running back room earlier this morning, the team added another offensive lineman to a room that they are trying to completely overhaul this offseason.

As first reported by Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, the Tar Heels have picked up a commitment from West Virginia transfer offensive lineman Brandon Homady earlier this morning. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Homady, who measures in at 6’3, 298 lbs., transfers to UNC after just one season with the Mountaineers. In that lone season, he was active for eleven games with the majority of his 52 snaps coming on special teams. He played eight snaps on the offensive side of the ball, posting six snaps against Robert Morris and two against Utah. The snaps came at either left tackle or as an extra blocker.

This is not the experienced option that we were hoping for along the offensive line, but at least the staff added another body here. At this rate, it feels like one of the starting tackle jobs will be going to one of the guys who were on the roster last year and that the team will have some important battles throughout the rest of the line as they try to field a serviceable group. Another addition here would be welcome, but the team does still have needs at defensive tackle and cornerback that need to be filled also.
