Heel Tough Blog: KJ Jackson Appears to Be Slipping Away

Late last week, the Tar Heels lost two of their top targets at the quarterback position in the 2024 class to opposing schools. Now, just a week later they are closing in on losing another one on Sunday night.

4✮ QB KJ Jackson is the last of the team’s initial targets at the position that remains uncommitted and heading into Tuesday, they had to feel pretty confident about where they stood with the Montgomery, AL product. Jackson was in Chapel Hill for a the second time in two months back on March 25th and it appeared to be another successful visit. Combine that with the fact that he had yet to visit another school, and it was hard not too feel pretty good about the Tar Heels chances to land his commercial. Following his first ever visit to Arkansas, though, the tides appear to have turned.

Since the conclusion of the visit things have been trending towards the Razorbacks, including the expert predictions. A total of six predictions have been cast between the three major recruiting sites in the last three days, all in favor of the Razorbacks. All three of the Rivals predictions come from team oriented writers, but forecasts from both directors of recruiting for 247Sports and On3 Sports in favor of Sam Pittman’s team are concerning.

The setting of Jackson's commitment date for Sunday is pretty much the final nail in the coffin for the Tar Heels chances here. He announced his decision date earlier today after revealing his top two schools on Tuesday. The decision will take place at 5:30 PM CST in front of his family and friends.

At this point, it feels like it is inevitable that Jackson will be heading to Fayetteville. It’s just hard to imagine that happening with all of the momentum that the Razorbacks have right now.
