The second of the four commitments over the next two days will come from 2024 4✮ TE Korey Duff Jr. later this evening.
Duff Jr. announced earlier this week that he will be committing at a special event at a local restaurant at 6:45 PM. His decision is down to Carolina and Rutgers, something he told On3 Sports’s Chad Simmons earlier this month after canceling his official visit to Miami.
The Tar Heels made a push for Duff Jr. during the spring and appeared to make a nice impression with him on his official visit trip a few weeks ago. He told Simmons in the On3Sports article that he has established really strong relationships with Mack Brown and Freddie Kitchens and loves the NFL coaching experience that Kitchens brings to the table.
Unfortunately, Rutgers looks to be in a better position heading into the decision. Duff Jr. visited Piscataway the first weekend of the month and he raved to Simmons about the staff. He is very close with staff, even down to members of the support staff and he is extremely excited about the way they are planning to use him in their offense. Add in the proximity to home and it makes all the sense in the world that the pick will be Rutgers later tonight.
The recruiting websites also point to the Scarlet Knights as the destination for him. Analysts across all three of the major sites have predictions cast for Rutgers with pretty strong confidence levels. Among those that favor the Scarlet Knights for tonight are 247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn, Rivals national recruiting analyst Adam Friedman and On3 Sports national recruiting analyst Sam Spriegelman, some of the top predictors in the industry. The On3 Recruiting Predicition Machine also heavily favors Greg Schiano and company right now.
