The Tar Heels look to continue their hot streak on the 2027 recruiting trail this weekend as they welcome nine more targets to campus for their official visits. Here’s a look at where things stand in each recruitment for this weekend’s official visitors heading into their trips.
Committed:
3✮ IOL Shavezz Dixon- Lee County (Leesburg, GA)
Dixon committed to the Tar Heels on Tuesday and won’t take his other official visits. This will be a nice asset to have on campus helping to recruit the other targets this weekend.
3✮ CB Trey Johnson- Steele (Cibilo, TX)
Johnson will be taking his first ever trip to Chapel Hill this weekend as a Tar Heel commit. This will be another nice asset to have helping to recruit this other targets that will be on campus with him.
In the Lead:
3✮ RB Sa’Nir Brooks- St. Frances Academy (Aliquippa, PA)
Brooks is freshly back on the market after decommitting from Syracuse on Wednesday and it appears he is heading to Chapel Hill for an official visit this weekend. As of right now, the Tar Heels are the only school scheduled to get an official visit from him, meaning they are in a pretty decent spot with his recruitment resetting. The staff has a great opportunity in front of them this weekend if they want it.
UR IOL Cooper Hodson- Providence Day (Charlotte, NC)
Hodson was expected to officially visit Chapel Hill next weekend, but opted to move it up to this weekend. As of right now, this is still his only scheduled official visit, so the Tar Heels have to be the team in the driver’s seat for him at this point. The question is whether or not the team will be willing to take his commitment with three interior offensive linemen.
Toss Up:
4✮ OT Kelsey Adams- Langston Hughes (Fairburn, GA)
Adams was supposed to officially visit Chapel Hill in the middle of next week, but clearly decided to it up to this weekend. While he is a Georgia commit, it seems that this recruitment is going to come down to whether or not he flips his commitment to LSU or UNC. The Tigers are the favorite right now, but it's hard to think the Tar Heels are not making a major push here this weekend.
4✮ WR Zion White- Mililani (Honolulu, HI)
White’s recruitment will come down to the next ten days as he crams three official visits into that timeframe. The Tar Heels have held onto an official visit the entire time here and feel to be a legitimate contender here despite the distance from home. With that distance, though, it might set up a situation where the team needs to really impress to get the job done.
4✮ LB Theo Wilson- Armwood (Tampa, FL)
Wilson’s recruitment has taken off in the past few weeks and it has resulted in some major shifts to his official visit ledger. After originally being scheduled to officially visit Chapel Hill last week, Wilson took a trip to Louisville instead, leaving some to wonder if he would even make it to Chapel Hill this weekend. He has, though, which means that the Tar Heels have a chance here if they are ready to take it.
4✮ DL Kaiden Robinson-Vickers- Dunnellon (Dunnellon, FL)
The race for Robinson-Vickers seems to be coming down to three schools and the Tar Heels look as if they will get the final shot here. He has already taken visits to NC State and UCF, visits that he seemed genuinely pleased with, but not enough to be willing to commit. There is opportunity here for the Tar Heel staff, they just have to take advantage of it this weekend.
Probably Heading Elsewhere:
4✮ EDGE Brayden Booth- South San Antonio (San Antonio, TX)
Booth is part of the Tar Heels strong push in the state of Texas in this recruiting cycle and would be a great headliner for this class. While the Tar Heels had positioned themselves well earlier in the offseason, Baylor has firmly assumed the driver’s seat in this race over the past couple of months. The fact that he is taking the visit to Chapel Hill is a sign that there is still opportunity here, but the Tar Heels will need a strong showing to have any chance of eventually walking away with his commitment.
Committed Elsewhere:
3✮ CB Nazir Pitchford- Palmetto (Palmetto, FL)
Pitchford just committed to Kansas on Sunday following his official visit there, but he is still set to make the trip to Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels made some waves with him back in the spring and the fact that he is still visiting means there is at least a chance for the Tar Heels to eventually flip him. In order to do that, the staff needs to leave a strong impression on him this weekend.
