Omarion Hampton had one of the best breakout seasons of anyone in college football and has received another postseason honor as a result.
The Associated Press released their All-American teams for the 2023 season and the Tar Heel running back received his third second team selection of the postseason, joining the ones he received from CBS Sports and Sports Illustrated. He also earned first team honors from the Walter Camp Football Foundation last week.
Hampton finished the regular season fourth in the FBS in rushing yards (1442), eighth in rushing touchdowns (15), third in scrimmage yards (1657) and first in yards after contact (1023). His rushing yards are the third most in program history and his touchdowns sit sixth right now. He’ll have a great chance to boost those numbers in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl later this month, especially with quarterback Drake Maye sitting out.
