Heel Tough Blog: Tar Heel 3✮ CB Commit Flips to UCLA

For the second time in the last week and a half, the Tar Heels have lost the commitment of a 3✮ defensive back.

According to Adam Gorney of Rivals and Yahoo Sports, 2026 3✮ CB Justin Lewis has flipped his commitment from UNC to UCLA following an offer over the weekend. Lewis will officially visit Westwood next weekend.

With his decommitment, the Tar Heels have lost their second defensive back commit in the last ten days following O’Mari Johnson’s decommitment back on May 30th. The decommitment drops the class down to 17th overall and 5th in the ACC according to the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings.

His decommitment comes while the Tar Heels are in the midst of handing out a new round of offers to cornerback. Among those new offers are 3✮ prospect Xavier Jackson and in-state unranked prospect Kosci Barnes.
