The bad news for the Tar Heels surrounding Bill Belichick and his coaching staff just continues to roll in.

According to a report from Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, Tar Heels cornerbacks coach Armond Hawkins has been suspended as of Tuesday evening for violating an NCAA rule pertaining to extra benefits. There is no timetable for the suspension as of right now.

Per Feldman, the alleged violation surrounds him providing a player’s family member with sideline passes for a game. This was found out thanks to a report from Pat Welter last night surrounding the culture of the program after a tumultuous 2-3 start.

According to Welter, cornerback Thaddeus Dixon’s family is the one that received sideline passes, something that no one else in the program received.

This is one example of extra benefits and preferential treatment that Belichick recruits and transfers have been receiving since as soon as the spring. Those include preferred parking and not being held accountable for missing classes or workouts the way that Mack Brown holdovers have been.

All in all, this just adds to what is a disastrous situation that the football program is in right now which has led to a non-competitive product on the field and a major divide between coaches and players off the field.
