The Tar Heels are working on building momentum in their 2026 season, where they have gotten off to a 2-0 start, but the program’s 2027 ACC opponents were revealed on Wednesday.

While this year’s schedule contains eight conference opponents, the Tar Heels will be one of the teams that will play nine conference games this upcoming season.

The program came into the day with four matchups scheduled for next season. The team will host both UCF (September 4th) and Connecticut (September 18th) in return games of home-and-home series that they have scheduled with the two programs, along with a home game with FCS North Alabama (September 25th). The team was scheduled to face Purdue in West Lafayette on September 11th, but according to Inside Carolina, the game has been rescheduled to 2032, a year after the team will host the Boilermakers in Chapel Hill in 2031.

In conference play, the Tar Heels will have four home games and five road games. The team will host Duke, Florida State, Virginia and Virginia Tech in Kenan Stadium. Meanwhile, the team will travel to Louisville, NC State, Stanford, Syracuse and Wake Forest.

The full schedule for the team won’t be revealed until January and there is still a lot to learn about what these opponents will be in 2027, but it feels like this will be part of a more manageable schedule following the difficult 2026 slate.
