The Tar Heels appeared as if they might have been done in the transfer portal after the addition of linebacker Andrew Simpson, but were not done just yet.
As first reported by Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, the Tar Heels have just landed a commitment from Purdue transfer wide receiver Nathan Leacock. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Leacock, a former 4✮ prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, transfers to UNC after spending spring practice in West Lafayette with the Boilermakers. Prior to that, he spent two seasons with the Tennessee Volunteers, where he registered just one catch for 13 yards. Back at the high school level in Raleigh, NC, he caught 121 passes for 2,442 yards and 33 touchdowns, with the majority of production coming as a senior in the fall of 2022.
Leacock is another upside pickup that the team has added to the wide receiver corps. The hope is that maybe a return home will allow him to find some of that potential and become a productive receiver for the team as soon as this season.
