For the fourth straight day the Tar Heels have landed a commitment in the 2026 recruiting class.
As first reported by Brayden Green of braydendesignss, the Tar Heels landed a commitment from 2026 CB Keegan Chapman. Chapman chose UNC over offers from Austin Peay, North Alabama, Sanford and West Georgia. He was offered by the Tar Heels back on June 2nd while in the midst of his official visit.
Chapman, an unranked prospect according to 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, hails from Jackson High School in Jackson, AL. This past season, as a junior, he racked up 36 total tackles, one interception and 16 passes deflections while playing in all 15 games for the school.
Chapman, who measures in at 5’11, 160 lbs., is an intriguing young prospect that showed in his lone season at the varsity level that there is potential in his game. He is a strong man coverage corner because of just how smooth he is at opening his hips and the straight line speed that he possesses. He does a good job playing the football as witnessed by his 16 pass deflections and has shined in that area in this offseason. He shows some nice promise as a tackler and shows the motor to make plays all over the field. There is still a lot of development that is needed, but there is definitely something to work with here.
With his commitment, the Tar Heels already have 26 committed prospects, including two at the cornerback spot. The class sits No. 20 overall and No. 6 in the ACC in the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings. Hopefully this is preemptive to the commitment from his brother later today or this weekend.
