Inside Carolina reported prior to the Tar Heels taking the field in Bank of America Stadium that there would be changes on the defensive side of the ball and on Wednesday morning those changes were revealed.

In a release from the program this morning, it was revealed that head coach Mack Brown and defensive coordinator Gene Chizik have parted ways after two years. The release states that the move was made following postseason meetings. Defensive line coach Tim Cross has also been relieved of his duties after five seasons and Senior Defensive Analyst Ted Monachino will take over for him.

The rest of the defensive staff will remain in place, including Charlton Warren who will become the Assistant Head Coach for Defense and will still coach the defensive backs. The program will be conducting a national search for their new defensive coordinator.
