Heel Tough Blog: Tar Heels Land 3✮ IOL from Ga.

The Tar Heels had a chance to add a significant commitment in the 2027 class on Friday afternoon and did just that in the form of one of their top offensive line targets.

As he announced via a live stream on his Instagram from his high school earlier today, 2027 3✮ IOL Shavezz Dixon has committed to UNC over offers from Georgia Tech, Florida State, Virginia and Pittsburgh. The commitment comes a week before his scheduled official visit to Chapel Hill.

Dixon, the No. 560 overall prospect and No. 44 interior offensive lineman in the class according to Rivals Industry Rankings, is preparing for his senior season at Lee County High School in Leesburg, GA. This past season, as a junior, Dixon was named an all-conference and all-state member for what he did on a Lee County offensive line that helped the team go 8-4 and make the second round of the GHSA AAAAA state playoffs.

Dixon is a tremendous underrated addition to this class. He is another player who displays some really promising athleticism for his size that allows him to be used as a pull blocker and screen pass blocker when needed. He succeeds in driving guys back off of the line of scrimmage in the run game and a lot of that can be attributed to violence with which he plays most snaps with. That violence also shows up in pass protection, an area that he really shines in, especially for an interior offensive lineman. This is a promising player, who depending on what happens at guard this offseason, could see early playing time in Chapel Hill if he adjusts to the college level quickly.

With his commitment, the Tar Heels have seven players committed to the class, including two interior offensive lineman in the last week.
