While it may be early in the 2027 recruiting cycle, it has stopped some key targets from narrowing down their lists and an important one did just that on Sunday afternoon.
As he revealed via his social media pages, 2027 4✮ CB Xavier Hasan has narrowed his list of schools down to twelve and the Tar Heels are amongst that group following their offer last month. Joining them as teams still in the hunt are Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, NC State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Hasan, the No. 49 overall prospect and No. 6 cornerback in the 2027 class according to 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, hails from Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, NC. This past season, he collected 31 total tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, seven interceptions, eight passes defensed and a fumble recovery on his way to first team all-conference honors. In 2023, as a freshman, he finished with 18 total tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, one pass defensed and a fumble recovery.
Right now, it’s still really early in the process but it feels like the in-state schools are in good shape. According to the Rivals’ Recruiting Prediction Machine, Duke is currently the slight favorite with NC State and Carolina trailing closely behind.
