The Tar Heels are resuming their pursuit of the 2026 recruiting class and on Friday evening, they found out they will be receiving a visit from the son of an NFL legend.
As first reported by Brandon Huffman of 247Sports, 2026 3✮ WR Devin Fitzgerald, the son of legendary NFL wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, will be taking an official visit to Chapel Hill the weekend of June 20th. Fitzgerald will also make stops at UCLA (May 16th), Clemson (May 30th), Stanford (June 6th), Notre Dame (June 13th) and Arizona State (TBD) over the course of the next month.
Fitzgerald, the No. 481 overall prospect and No. 78 wide receiver in the 2026 class according to 247Sports Composite player rankings, hails from Brophy College Preparatory School in Phoenix, AZ. This past season, as a junior, he caught 52 passes for 720 yards and nine touchdowns while playing in 13 games. This followed a sophomore campaign where he caught 15 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns in eleven games.
Heading into his visit to Westwood this weekend, it felt like a pretty wide open race for his services. On3 Sports Recruiting Prediction Machine gives UCLA the slight edge at this point, but it feels like the official visits are going to weigh heavily in this decision.
