The first day of an extremely important recruiting weekend for the Tar Heels has been a pretty action-packed one, as the team has received three huge crystal ball predictions after seeing a defensive line target that was supposed to be on campus for an official visit starting yesterday.
2023 3✮ DL Rodney Lora, the No. 78 defensive lineman in the class according to 247Sports Composite team rankings, announced via his social media that he was committing to Tony Eliott and the Virginia Cavaliers on the day where he was supposed to begin his official visit to Chapel Hill. This isn’t exactly a stunning turn of events, as it felt like there was starting to be a mutual cooling on both sides and one has to wonder if Lora even had a committable offer still on the table with the Tar Heels.
The good news for the Tar Heels is that they are in good standing with other target along the defensive line and one of them picked up a crystal ball prediction on Friday from 247Sports Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong. 4✮ DL Daevin Hobbs picked up his second crystal ball on the website in favor of the Tar Heels, as Wiltfong set his confidence level at a 6 on the prediction for the in-state target from Concord, NC. The other crystal ball prediction from 247Sports is one cast by national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn back on May 6th.
Another prospect that received a second crystal ball prediction on the site on Friday was 4✮ EDGE Rico Walker. Wiltfong once again put his confidence level at a 6 for the in-state pass rusher, the same level that Clemson Insider Anna Hickey put on her prediction back on April 21st.
The last target that received a prediction was 4✮ WR Christian Hamilton, who actually picked up two yesterday from the site. Wiltfong was the first prediction to come in, as he set his confidence at a 6 for the in-state receiver. Meanwhile, later in the day, NC State Insider R. Cory Smith set his confidence level at a 7 with his late night forecast.
