The Tar Heels haven’t set a lot of official visits with in-state prospects in the 2026 class yet, but the team added one of the top defensive backs in the class to that official visit calendar on Friday evening.
2026 3✮ S Nick Reddish made his official visit schedule public on Friday, which included a scheduled trip to Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels will be the second team to officially host him after he takes a trip to Indiana to begin the month of May when they welcome him on the weekend of May 16th. He will also take trips to Wisconsin (May 30th-June 2nd), Virginia Tech (June 6th-8th), Notre Dame (June 12th-15th) and USC (June 20th-22nd).
Reddish, the No. 561 overall player and No. 29 prospect in the state of North Carolina in the 2026 class according to 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, hails from Independence High School in Charlotte, NC. This past season, Reddish finished the year with seven total tackles and a pass defensed while playing in just two games due to injury. The year prior, as a sophomore, Reddish collected 95 total tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, four interceptions, 10 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries in 15 games.
When it comes to where his recruitment stands, there is a clear leader and it might not be who you think it is. Despite his brother currently being at Virginia Tech, it is Notre Dame that holds the advantage right now, as they are given an 83.0% chance to land his commitment according to the On3 Sports Recruiting Prediction Machine. The Tar Heels, meanwhile, are given just a 1.8% chance, meaning there is plenty of work to do here even before he takes the official visit.
