Bill Belichick has talked about how important this month was going to be for high school recruiting and he is off to a fast start.

On Wednesday night, On3 Sports recruiting insider Chad Simmons reported that the Tar Heels will be hosting 2026 4✮ QB Derek Zammit for a visit this weekend after receiving an offer last week.

Zammit, the No. 25 quarterback in the class according to 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, just finished his junior campaign at DePaul Catholic School in Wayne, NJ. This season, he started all 12 games for the Spartans throwing for 2,582 yards, 35 touchdowns and four interceptions while completing 68.0% of his passes. He also ran for 560 yards and six touchdowns on 64 carries while helping lead the team to an 11-1 record and the NJSIAA Non-Public B state title. Last year as a sophomore, he threw for 1,736 yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions and ran for 215 yards and eight touchdowns. That built off of his freshman season where he threw for 1,194 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions and ran for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

The Tar Heels already hold a commitment from Zaid Lott in the class, but they are clearly motivated to bring in another quarterback with him which makes sense with how thin the depth is in the room right now. While many are pushing for in-state 5✮ Faizon Brandon, but with him saying that he is firmly committed to Tennessee, it makes sense that the team is hosting others.
