Heel Tough Blog: Tar Heels Set to Host Five Official Visitors for Duke Game

With the NCAA dead period set to start on December 1st, the Tar Heels are hosting one last weekend of official visits before the early signing period in hopes of adding some more members to their 2026 class which already has 36 commits. Here is a look at who will be on campus this weekend and where their recruitments sit heading into this weekend.

4RB Carsyn Baker- Langston Hughes (Fairburn, GA)

Baker, the No. 15 running back in the 2026 class, might still remain committed to Florida, but he will be visiting Chapel Hill this weekend as part of his official visit schedule to other schools. This visit comes after he took trips to Kentucky and Ole Miss the last two weekends and is set to take a visit to Georgia Tech next weekend. It feels like the Tar Heels have the longest odds of anybody in this race right now, but they have a chance to blow him away this weekend.

JUCO OT TJ Taylor- College of the Canyons (Santa Clarita, CA)

Taylor, the No. 4 JUCO prospect in the 2026 class, is one of the top JUCO options in the portal and the Tar Heels are hard in pursuit. Taylor has previously visited NC State (Oct. 3), SMU (Nov. 1) and Illinois (Nov. 15), meaning that the Tar Heels will get the final shot with him. While it seems more likely that the team lands fellow JUCO OT transfer Jonah Rodriguez, it feels like they have a shot here if they can put together a strong showing over the weekend.

JUCO CB Asaad Chapman- San Bernardino Community College (San Bernardino, CA)

Chapman, the No. 12 JUCO prospect in the 2026 class, is another top JUCO product that the team is hoping to impress this weekend. So far, he has made a stop at UTSA earlier in the season and he is scheduled to be in Starksville visiting Mississippi State next weekend. UTSA has the advantage with his brother being on the roster, but the fact that he is visiting Chapel Hill means that there is at least a shot here.

3TE Dream Rashad- Buford (Buford, GA)

Rashad, the No. 81 tight end in the 2026 class, is one of the team’s top targets at a spot that the team is desperately looking to add another commitment at. As of right now, this is the only official visit that he has scheduled outside of the ones that he took back in the summer, meaning the Tar Heels seem to have a real shot to complete a flip. If the Tar Heels can prove themselves enough this weekend, they might just be able to complete the flip.

3LB Jordan Avinger- Orangeburg-Wilkinson (Orangeburg, SC)

Avinger, the No. 118 linebacker in the 2026 class, is the final target that will be on campus this weekend. Earlier this month, he revealed to Anna Adams of 247Sports that he is down to UNC and West Virginia, the school that he visited back on the weekend of November 7th. With the Tar Heels getting the last shot here, it feels like they are in a prime spot to land his commitment when it’s all said and done.
