The number of Tar Heels entering the transfer portal on the first day of the spring window is now up to three for the Tar Heels.
Redshirt freshman interior offensive lineman D.J. Geth officially entered the portal on Tuesday after telling the staff he would do so prior to spring camp. He will have four years of eligibility remaining wherever he lands.
Geth did not see action in a game as a true freshman after battling for the backup center role in the preseason. This year, he was set to compete for a similar depth role before announcing he was heading to the portal.
Geth’s departure shouldn’t be a big blow to the offensive line room, but his versatility will be missed. Still, this gives guys like Andrew Rosinski, Aidan Banfield and Jani Norwood, if he stays on the offensive line, a chance at extra reps in their freshman seasons.
