The Tar Heels have a small group of targets that remain uncommitted in the 2026 class and on Monday one of them released his top schools list and decision date.

As first announced by Hayes Fawcett of Rivals on Monday evening, 2026 4✮ CB Davon Benjamin will announce his decision on August 2nd between his final five schools. Those five schools, UNC, Michigan, Oregon, Texas and Washington, are the five schools that he officially visited last month. He visited Chapel Hill officially back on June 10th.

Benjamin, the No. 36 overall prospect and No. 5 safety in the 2026 class according to 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, hails from Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, CA. This past season, he finished with 45 total tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, six interceptions, three interception return touchdowns, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery on defense and caught 34 passes for 404 yards and two touchdowns on offense. He also had 464 total return yards between kicks and punts. The year prior, as a sophomore, he racked up 40 total tackles, one quarterback hurry, two interceptions, five passes defensed, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries on defense and caught 12 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns on offense. Back in 2022, he started off his high school career by collecting 52 total tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, one quarterback hurry, four interceptions and seven passes defensed on defense and caught three passes for 34 yards and a touchdown on offense.

When it comes to the status of his recruitment right now, it feels like Oregon has established themselves as the favorites here. Both the 247Sports experts and Rivals experts have cast multiple predictions in favor of the Ducks and barring something shocking, he will be heading to Eugene on August 2nd.
