After an extremely successful first official weekend of June for the Tar Heels that saw four commitments, the staff is back after it again this weekend. In what will be a much smaller group of targets, the Tar Heels will be hoping to continue their success and build upon a 2026 class that is looking for more headliners to join some of the commitments they have already landed so far. Here is a look at the prospects who will be on campus this weekend and where their recruitments currently stand.
Committed
4✮ DL Trashawn Ruffin- North Duplin (Mt. Olive, NC)

Ruffin is the Tar Heels most solid commit at this point and will be an incredible asset to the staff this weekend as he’ll be pushing hard to get some of the uncommitted prospects on board with him. As expected, he will not be taking an official visit anywhere else this summer.
3✮ RB Crew Davis- Iona Prepatory School (New Rochelle, NY)

Davis is one of the longer-standing commits in the class and will be on campus helping to recruit the uncommitted prospects in this class. He still seems solidly committed to this class and, to this point, is not visiting any other schools.
3✮ IOL Zion Smith- DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD)

Smith is another solid commit that the Tar Heels will have on campus this weekend to help try to recruit the uncommitted guys that will be on campus. This will be the one and only visit that he will take this summer.
Uncommitted
4✮ ATH CJ Sadler- Cass Technical (Detroit, MI)

Sadler will be the highest-rated recruit that the Tar Heels have gotten on campus in this 2026 recruiting class and they will have their work cut out for them if they are going to actually land him. He took an official visit to Maryland last weekend, which supposedly blew him away, and he is working on getting official visits to Miami, Colorado and Michigan scheduled, according to Allen Trieu of 247Sports. If he gets the trip to Michigan scheduled, that might just be a wrap on this recruitment. If not, this recruitment becomes a pretty wide open one.
4✮ WR Chase Campbell- Frenship (Wolfforth, TX)

Campbell is one of the highly-rated wide receivers that the Tar Heels are still in the hunt for and just getting him on campus is big for this staff. His recruitment feels pretty wide open at this point, even though he seemed impressed by what he saw in his first official visit to Arkansas last weekend. He’s coming off a midweek visit to Tennessee and still has trips to Utah, Kansas State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Baylor to close out what will be an incredibly hectic month of official visits. The hope is that the Tar Heels can do enough this weekend to stand out from all of the other local teams and put themselves in a position to actually land his commitment when it is all said and done.
3✮ OT Tyreek Jemison- Paulding County (Dallas, GA)

Jemison is another prospect that comes to campus with a race that seems pretty wide open at this point. He already took his visit to Ole Miss last weekend and it didn’t seem to make any major waves in his recruitment, so now it is up to the Tar Heels to do that this weekend. He still has trips to Kentucky and Georgia Tech that he has to take, with the one to Atlanta being the most important of that duo, so the staff needs to set a high bar to beat this weekend if they want to come away with his commitment.
3✮ S Jamar Owens- Douglas County (Douglasville, GA)

Owens’ recruitment has been a quiet one but the Tar Heels are positioned pretty well in this race. There are a lot of other schools that could factor in here, especially in-state Georgia Tech, but, as of right now, the Tar Heels are the only team that has an official visit scheduled. It feels like if the staff shows him what they need to, he could be one of the guys who leaves with a silent commitment.
3✮ OT Landry Brede- Mentor (Mentor, OH)

Brede is another player who will come to campus on commitment watch. As of right now, the Tar Heels are the only team that seems like they will receive an official visit, so the staff has a chance to wrap this one up if they want to. The question is, with how many guys they have already landed along the offensive line, are they saving that spot for a higher-rated target like Jemison, who may not decide this weekend.
UR OT Nick Fiumara- Belmont Hill School (Belmont, MA)

Fiumara is a guy who comes into the weekend without an offer from the program but is hoping that he can earn one this weekend. If he is able to earn that offer, the Tar Heels would immediately become the heavy favorite for him, similar to what happened this past weekend with 3✮ CB Keegan Chapman.
