With the 2026 class now in the books, the attention has turned to the 2027 class which is in the process of scheduling official visits. On Monday, the Tar Heels received the news that one of their top running back targets will be on campus this summer.
As he announced via social media on Monday evening, 2027 3✮ RB Jeremiah Dent will be taking his official visit to Chapel Hill June 5th-7th. He will also take an official trip to Auburn June 19th-21st.
Dent, the No. 817 overall prospect and No. 59 running back in the class according to Rivals Industry Rankings, is coming off a strong junior season at Marion High School in Marion, AR. This past year, he ran for 1,057 yards on 102 rush attempts and caught 30 passes from 490 yards. He finished the year with 1,983 all-purpose yards and 22 touchdowns, including three kickoff returns for touchdowns.
Early on in this recruitment, it feels like the Tar Heels are joined by Arkansas and Auburn that have established early inroads with Dent. It’s still early and Arkansas is the favorite according to Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine, but it feels like the Tar Heels have a shot here if they can actually get him to campus for that official visit.
