Heel Tough Blog: 2027 Official Visit Schedules- LB

Official visits are set to resume for the 2027 class at the end of month, as the Tar Heels look to convince some important targets that they should be a part of what will be a smaller class this year for the program after the massive class the group brought in last cycle. To get you prepared, we’re taking a look at the prospects that have scheduled official visits with the program by position groups and updating you on where their recruitments stand heading into the month. Today, we’ll look at the seven linebackers who are scheduled to be on campus this summer, including one commit.

3 LB Theo Wilson- Armwood (Tampa, FL): June 5th

Wilson just recently set his official visit to Chapel Hill and it feels like the Tar Heels are one of those in a good spot with him right now. Virginia is the other school that he is set to visit and while Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine gives them the edge, it feels like this is more of a toss up at this point. It’s up to the Tar Heels to make sure he is a priority when he is on campus in a few weeks.

3 LB Aaron Williams- Ridge Point (Missouri City, TX): June 5th

One of the other important prospects for the Tar Heels to focus on at this position will be Williams, who the team looks to be one of the final three for. Wisconsin (May 29th) and Utah (June 12th) are the two schools that the team is battling here and feels like things are pretty even heading into the month. The good news is that distance doesn’t seem to be a concern for him, so it will come down to who has the best pitch.

3 LB Zykee Scott- La Salle College (Philadelphia, PA): June 12th

Scott is a guy that set his visit a while back and has held true to it to this point. In-state schools Penn State and Pittsburgh are teams trending ahead of the Tar Heels right now, but it still feels like the door is open for the Tar Heels if they want it. Depending on how things go the week before with the higher rated prospects, this could be a guy that the staff makes a push with during this visit.

3 LB Tasheem Butler- Glassboro (Glassboro, NJ): June 5th [COMMITTED TO UNC]

Butler has been committed since March 28th, but the Tar Heels are going to be looking to hold on to that commitment when he takes this visit. Maryland (May 28th) and Syracuse (June 12th) will be looking to flip him during his visits, something that will be interesting to see how UNC responds to. Depending on how they feel with the other linebackers on this list will likely determine how hard they push to keep him.

3 LB Jason Crenshaw- Prattville (Prattville, AL): June 5th

Crenshaw might be further down on the list in terms of rankings, but may still be a big priority for the team on the weekend he visits. This battle appears to be a two team race between the Tar Heels and Kentucky, the school he’ll visit the week after his trip to Chapel Hill. With other visitors on campus at the position, it will be interesting to see how hard the Tar Heels push here.

3 LB Tripp Keller- Jesuit (Tampa, FL): June 12th [COMMITTED TO DUKE]

While Keller might be committed to Duke, 247Sports says that he is going to take his official visit to Chapel Hill. If there is an appetite to complete the flip, the staff will need to show him that he is a priority. A lot will likely depend on what happens the previous week.

3 LB Nathan Jones- Desert Edge (Goodyear, AZ): June 5th

Jones is a player that has picked up a lot of steam in the last month and a half and the Tar Heels are in running. His most recent offer, Wisconsin, is the team that appears to be in the lead as evidenced by the two predictions they have received on 247Sports. If the Tar Heels are wanting to overtake the Badgers in this race, they are going to have to prove to him that he is a priority.
