Heel Tough Blog: 3✮ OT Targets Commits to Duke, Tar Heels Look Done on OL in 2024 Class

The Tar Heels have been rolling on the 2024 recruiting trail, but the team lost what may have been the final offensive line target to another school yesterday afternoon.

3✮ OT Mason Wade was scheduled to take an official visit to Chapel Hill this weekend, but his commitment to Duke on Tuesday means that won’t be taking place. Wade was on campus in Durham this past weekend for an official visit, his second of the month after a trip to Boston College the week before. Mike Elko and his clearly staff knocked it out of the ballpark and secured his commitment before he could even take a visit to the other two schools that many felt he held in high regard.

His commitment elsewhere means that the Tar Heels are likely done along the offensive line in this class. The staff was probably holding out hope that they would be able to get 4✮ in-state offensive tackle Ethan Calloway on campus for an official visit sometime during this month, but it doesn’t appear that is going to happen. 3✮ tackle Cam’Ron Warren was a guy the staff got off to a nice start with, but his recruitment has fallen off and it appears that offer may not even be a committable one at this point.

The good news is, any of these three would have been an added bonus to what the team already has in place. 3✮ Luke Masterson is the team’s commit at offensive tackle, while fellow 3✮’s Desmond Jackson and Aidan Banfield form a good duo for the staff on the interior. They also have 3✮ Jani Norwood who is looking to play defensive line at the next level but is more than capable of making an impact at guard.
