The Tar Heels are preparing for a big summer in terms of official visits for the 2027 class, but they hosted their first official visitor over the weekend in the form of one of the top tight ends in this class.

2027 4✮ TE Mason Oglesby was on campus over the weekend for the second official visit on his growing official visit list. He officially visited Purdue last week and is also expected to take trips to Indiana (April 24th), Kansas (May 1st), USC (May 6th), Ohio State (May 29th) and Texas Tech (June 5th) over the next couple of months.

Oglesby, the No. 348 overall prospect and No. 19 tight end in the 2027 class according to Rivals Industry Rankings, hails from New Palestine High School in New Palestine, IN. Last year, as a junior, he played in 14 games and hauled in 34 catches for 513 yards and six touchdowns, leading his team in each of those three major receiving categories. The year prior, as a sophomore, Oglesby caught 35 passes for 364 yards and a touchdown in 11 games.

The Tar Heels really seemed to solidify themselves as a contender in this recruitment this weekend, but it is going to be hard to top the in-state powerhouse in this one. Indiana is the heavy favorite according to Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine and it is going to be tough to top them in this battle. Nothing that the Tar Heels did this weekend seems to indicate that they did that.
