Heel Tough Blog: Armando Bacot Earns All-American Honors

Earlier today, R.J. Davis earned USBWA First Team Al-American honors, but he wasn’t the only Tay Heel to earn honors, as Armando Bacot did as well, being named to the USBWA Third Team All-American team. Bacot has enjoyed another productive season in Chapel Hill, averaging a double-double at over 14 points and 10 rebounds per game, all while helping lead UNC to an ACC regular season title, and a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. This is the second straight season that Bacot has earned USBWA Third Team honors, just adding to a legendary career at Carolina. With him and Davis earning USBWA honors, they are the only teammates to make the 15-player, All-American team, giving Carolina arguably the best due in the country.

Believe it or not, Bacot still has work to do to get his jersey in the rafters at the Smith Center, and now the only way to get his jersey honored, is to either be on a national championship winning team or be the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four. Many believe that Carolina is going to find a way to properly honor Bacot, who is the all-time leading rebounder at UNC, all while setting the record for most double-doubles at UNC, as he’s closing in on Tim Duncan’s ACC record.
