Heel Tough Blog: Brandon Huffman to Transfer

Thursday night junior big man Brandon Huffman announced he would be entering the now ever popular transfer portal, forgoing his final season in Chapel Hill. Huffman was one of three post players recruited by Roy Williams in the 2017 class, joining star Garrison Brooks & Sterling Manley. With so much talent ahead of him, and the Tar Heels' use of a small lineup, Huffman had a hard time making his way onto the court. Appearing in 70 games as a Tar Heel, Huffman averaged 1.4 points & 1.1 rebounds, contributing as a member of the blue squad.

Huffman became just the 6th transfer under Roy Williams, but this wasn’t a surprise. Carolina is going to have Garrison Brooks back for his senior season, and Armando Bacot committed to returning after the loss to Syracuse in the ACC Tournament. In addition to those two players, Sterling Manley is expected back next season, after missing the entire 2019-20 due to injury. Carolina also is bringing in two premier post players in Day’Ron Sharpe and Walker Kessler, to keep the interior loaded with talent.
