While the search for a new head coach is the top priority for the UNC athletic department, roster decisions are being made in the meantime, as players are determining whether or not to stay committed during the search, or to enter the draft or the transfer portal. The player with the biggest decision to make is Caleb Wilson, who had his historic freshman season cut short due to multiple injuries, and there was a sliver of hope that he’d return for his sophomore season. That option more than likely went out the door when Hubert Davis was fired on Tuesday night, as earlier this evening, Wilson posted on his Instagram, hinting that his time at UNC is over. In his social media post, he captioned the post with “never take it for granted”, along with the hashtag #8out

Wilson led Carolina in scoring and rebounding, despite only playing 24 games, before injuries cut his season short, on his way to earning second-team All-American honors, which earned him the right to have his jersey in the rafters at the Smith Center.

All eyes will now turn to Henri Veesaar, who has one year of eligibility left, but after a standout junior season, he finds himself being projected as a first-round pick. How the coaching search ultimately works out could impact Veesaar’s decision, especially if Arizona’s Tommy Lloyd were to take the job. Veesaar is the only other Tar Heel expected to have an NBA Draft decision to make, while others will have to decide whether or not to transfer out of the program.
