Heel Tough Blog: Tar Heels Land 4✮ Commitment in 2028 Class for Second Straight Day
For a second straight day, the Tar Heels have landed a commitment in the 2028 class.
As first reported by Inside Carolina and confirmed shortly thereafter via social media, 2028 4✮ TE Gregory Kirwan has committed to the Tar Heels following a visit to Chapel Hill this past weekend for the team’s game with Miami. Kirwan was also in the building for the team’s game with Notre Dame earlier this season. The Tar Heels landed him over offers from Florida State, Penn State and Alabama among others.
Kirwan, the No. 388 overall prospect and No. 21 tight end in the 2028 class, is currently in the middle of his junior season at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, TN. Unfortunately, there are no stats available for this season for Kirwan because Lipscomb Academy does not keep stats on MaxPreps. Last year, in eight games at North Kingstown High School in North Kingstown, RI, he led the team in receiving, hauling in 31 passes for 471 yards and two touchdowns.
With his commitment, the Tar Heels now have two commitments in the 2028 class, both of which are on the offensive side of the ball. The commitment jumps the class up to No. 19 overall and No. 5 in the ACC.
