After losing two wide receivers to the transfer portal yesterday, the team received news on Monday that a former wide receiver who left the team earlier in the year will be entering the transfer portal as well.
As he announced via his social media on Monday afternoon, Paul Billups II will enter his name into the transfer portal when it opens on January 2nd after he stepped away from the Tar Heels back in late September. He will have two years of eligibility remaining wherever he lands.
Billups did not play in any of the first four games that he was on the team for this season after being a part of the rotation late last season. In his three seasons in Chapel Hill, Billups saw action in 13 games, playing 185 snaps, including 149 of them coming on the offensive side of the ball. 135 of those snaps came last season across 11 games for the team where he hauled in four catches for 27 yards, the only catches that he made in his career.
With him officially going to the portal, the team will be counting on guys like Alex Taylor, Nathan Leacock, Adrian Wilson and Kenedy Uzoma to step up this offseason. There will also be plenty of opportunity for the host of true freshmen that will be joining the roster this offseason and this could certainly be a spot that looks to add to in the transfer portal.
