Sunday, the Tar Heels will be looking to add their second wide receiver commit of the cycle. Late last month, 3✮ WR Keenan Jackson announced his commitment to the class and they are hoping to pair him with 4✮ WR Jordan Shipp.
Shipp’s decision will be revealed at some point today between his three finalists, Carolina, Michigan and NC State. All three of them hosted him for an official visit last month with the Tar Heels getting the final crack at him when he was on campus the weekend of June 23rd.
Heading into that weekend, the Tar Heels had a lot of work. Michigan entered June as the perceived favorite and strengthened that notion with a really strong official visit the first weekend of the month. Mack Brown and company turned up the heat, though, during that final weekend and appear to have done enough to land a significant piece to this class and to their wide receiver room of the future.
The recruiting experts have swung heavily in the Tar Heels favor over the past couple of days. Between the three major sites, ten predictions have been cast with all, but one being in favor of Carolina (the one in favor of Michigan was cast back on June 11th). The group that has him heading to Chapel Hill includes 247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn and a host of Michigan insiders across all three of the sites. On3 Sports Recruiting Prediction Machine also has a strong lean towards the Tar Heels heading in to the decision, giving them a 90.8% to land him today.
